 Library Board Meeting Update (2/10/2025)

Monday evening, the Library Board met at the Cumming Library. Highlighted agenda items include:

Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Adjustments

The Board unanimously voted to increase Donations revenue and Materials expenses by $9,500.00 to reflect the Kares 4 Kids donation to be used to purchase board books.

The Board voted unanimously to increase State revenue and Operations expenditures by $1,462.67 to reflect the additional MRR grant funds received for door repairs at Cumming.

Presentation of FCPL Budget Process

Library Director Adrianne Junius presented an overview of the FCPL budget timeline and important terms relevant to a budget discussion.

Fiscal Year 2026 FCPL Budget

The budget was reviewed in detail. Discussion was particularly focused on the Fund Balance and FCPL's effort to maintain an "ideal level" of savings for unexpected expenses and/or savings toward anticipated large maintenance bills. This "ideal level" of Fund Balance reflects "what it takes to operate FCPL 365 days a year".

The Board requested additional time to review the budget and indicated their intention to take a vote at the upcoming regular board meeting on March 17.

2026 County Budget Request

Due to the request for more time to review the overall FCPL budget, the Board tabled consideration of the 2026 County Budget request until the upcoming March meeting.

General Discussion

Adrianne Junius updated the Board on the progress achieved toward opening Denmark Library. The fire marshal is coming out on Wednesday. Adrianne plans to meet with county officials to encourage an efficient turnaround on the final paperwork needed to grant a Certificate of Occupancy.
