Library Board Meeting Update (6/4/2026)

The Library Board met on Thursday, June 4, 2026, for a Special Called Meeting.

Highlighted agenda items include:

Announcements
Ann Decherd shared updates for the Summer Reading Challenge launched on May 22, 2026. Current metrics include 3,817 registrations, 1,232,488 minutes read and 9,208 attendees across 91 programs. She also announced that "An Afternoon with Mary Kay Andrews" is fully booked and staff are exploring the possibility of adding a second session due to high demand.

FY2026 Budget Adjustment(s)
The Board voted unanimously to: 

  • Increase State revenue and Operations expenditures by $11,430 to reflect additional MRR grant funds received from GPLS.
  • Increase State revenue and Personnel expenditures by $96 to reflect the Medicare portion of the supplemental pay for state-allocated positions.
  • Use $58,000 in committed fund balance and increase Operations expenditures by $58,000 to replace the audiovisual system at Post Road Library.

FY2027 Budget Adjustment(s)
The Board voted unanimously to:

  • Increase State revenues by $7,624.
  • Increase Personnel expenditures by $533.
  • Increase Materials expenditures by $7,247.
  • Decrease Operations expenditures by $3,297.
A portion of the Personnel expenses and Operations expenditures related to Post E-rate funding were already included in the FY2027 budget, resulting in a decrease in Budgetary Fund Balance of $3,141.

The Board voted unanimously to decrease Personnel expenses by $38,160 to reflect the rollback of State Health Benefit Plan employer premiums.
