Hampton Park is looking extra snazzy! We teamed up with Forsyth’s quilt guild, the Piecemakers, to hang artistic quilts around the branch August 20-September 17. There are four separate collections:
- A River Runs Through It
- Can You Guess the Book?
- A Potpourri of Quilts
- Children’s Quilts.
Patrons are encouraged to guess the title the book each quilt is based on, and a fan favorite so far is Wilbur from Charlotte’s Web. The quilter really conveys Wilbur’s happiness through the fabric!
Most of the patrons who walk in immediately comment on the quilts. In the first week, we’ve had 163 comments from adults and 48 comments from kids! We also have a ballot box for patrons to vote on their favorite quilt, and a quick peek showed that the box is already getting full. It’s been a delight watching patrons walk around the branch to ooh and ahh over the quilts. Most of the comments I overhear are “Can you believe that’s fabric?” Make sure you stop by to check them out before September 17th.

What a wonderful idea! PR made the fliers available in our MakerDay and one lady told everyone all about the organization. Another patron the other day was so excited to tell her daughter. They will be visiting you this weekend.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic exhibit! I used it as an excuse to visit the Hampton Park branch for the first time :) My only complaint was how high up they all were, I couldn't fully appreciate the details, especially on the small intricate ones! Wish I'd brought binoculars... Stunning works all around though!
