SimplyE is an app developed some years ago by the New York Public Library. SimplyE is an aggregator designed to allow a patron to access eMaterials across a variety of platforms in one interface. SimplyE had the capacity to allow patrons to access their OverDrive/LIBBY materials, as well as eMaterials through the eRead Kids platform.
The New York Public Library has made the decision to focus on a version of the app more specific to assisting users in New York state. GPLS has also indicated that usage of SimplyE in Georgia has decline the last few years. As a result, GPLS has made the decision to decommission support for SimplyE.
The Library will remove references to SimplyE from the website on September 30. Patrons will be able to access OverDrive content through LIBBY.
Patrons using eRead Kids will need to access these eMaterials through a web browser. This will not provide as clean a reading experience for patrons as a regular app. As information is provided regarding an app for eRead Kids, it will be shared as soon as possible.
