SAVE THE DATE - Retirement Planning

Submitted by Lizzie Harry

The foundation for your retirement starts now. No, really. Think about it, how old do you want to be when you retire? 55? 60? 70? You could be living in retirement for 20+ years, so it’s essential to start that planning early!

Every classified employee is enrolled in The Teacher’s Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) by default, and that’s a great start, but FCPL offers retirement plans outside of TRS, through VALIC, to all classified staff: a tax-deferred 403(b) plan, an after-tax Roth 403(b) plan, and a tax-deferred 457(b) plan with contributions being made through payroll deduction.
Are you fuzzy on the details of what those are? Do you have questions about what you can get out of those plans? Do you want to learn what steps you should take to enroll?

Well, great news!

Our VALIC financial advisor, Paul Pitkins, will be available for appointments from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023. More details will be provided a couple of weeks prior to March 2nd, but if you’d like to get in early you can sign up for an appointment with Paul through the link below:

And, if you missed it, take a look at the “Annual Notice Regarding Participation in FCPL’s 403(b) Plan” available on the Staff Bulletin Board in the Administrative Offices and in every Branch.

Remember, you’re looking out for your future and the future of your loved ones when you invest in your retirement.
