Registration Full Already?

You may be surprised to see that An Evening With Shelby Van Pelt is already fully booked, and so are we! We currently have 1,000 people registered, plus another 100 on the wait list. We first announced the event in our December newsletter, and we've had a steady interest since then, but we were blown away by a sudden surge in registrations this week.

Why the rush? Read It Again Books posted on their Facebook about the event on Tuesday, January 21. Since that post, an additional 430 people registered for the event.

This has by far exceeded our expectations. Last year, we had 243 people registered for our Forsyth Reads Together event on January 22, so we have more than quadrupled the numbers for the same time of year. 

An Evening With Shelby Van Pelt is on Tuesday, March 11, so the event is still over six weeks away. The Forsyth Conference Center has a seating capacity for 1,000 people, so we are currently making plans for how many people we could reasonably add to a wait list. 

Thankfully, we have time to make plans for crowd management, but you will likely get questions from patrons who are unable to register. We will check the registration list to eliminate any duplicates, as well as emailing registrants to ask them to cancel their registration if they are no longer able to attend.

We will give you further updates as soon as we can. Know that our goal is to make sure that as many people as possible are able to enjoy the event, while also communicating clearly with all of our patrons to avoid any confusion or frustration.
