A Call for Costumes: the Halloween Costume Swap at Post Road

The Post Road ghost haunts our halls...

Horror books are on display for all to see...

All of this can only mean one thing: it's time for Post Road's Halloween Swap! 

This year, Post Road's Halloween Costume Swap is being held on Saturday, October 10 at 2:30 p.m.

Costume donations will be accepted at any branch from September 1–October 7. 

Last year's swap was a huge success: we had 82 patrons attend last year, with Squishmallow costumes being the most popular items taken. One of last year's patrons commented: "This is such a great idea! I could not wait to come here and check out what you have!" Others expressed that wanted to donate costumes for next year as well. Thankfully, their wish has been granted and the Halloween Swap is back.

Patrons can donate costumes from September 1–October 7 by dropping off their gently used costumes at any branch of FCPL. All you have to do is put the costumes in courier bins and send them on their way to Post Road and with the magic of our courier, they will be delivered to Post Road! From there, costumes will be sorted through to ensure they are in good condition and then stored in the back until the date and time of our swap, Saturday, October 10 at 2:30 p.m. 

Squishmallow costumes were popular amongst patrons last year.

Bookmarks have been distributed to all five of the FCPL branches and we appreciate your help with marketing this program to patrons at your branch! If patrons have questions about the swap, here are some frequently asked questions with their answers.

• When will donations be accepted? September 1–October 7
• Where are donations accepted? At any FCPL location. Please give your costume(s) to a staff member at the desk.
• What kind of costumes are accepted? Costumes that are clean, in good condition, and are themed appropriately for children are accepted.
• How should we donate costumes? Please place each costume with their accessories in one bag together.
• How many costumes can we donate? As many or as you want to!
• Do I have to donate a costume to pick out a costume at the swap? No. A donation is not required to attend the swap and pick out a costume. 
• Am I guaranteed a costume in my preferred size at the swap? No. We rely entirely on donations for this swap, so we cannot guarantee that your preferred size will be present on the day of the swap. We still encourage you to come look because you never know what we'll have available!
