Bookmobile Service Updates

Submitted by Sarah Reynolds

SCHEDULE

The Bookmobile will officially be out in the community establishing regular stops beginning the week of November 30. All dates and locations are in the events calendar and can be filtered by location (Bookmobile) or searched by “BOOKMOBILE VISIT”. The printable December Schedule has been updated with a few additions as well. The visits are a work in progress, so you may want to print only a few at a time.

HOLDS

One of the services we offer bookmobile patrons is the ability to place holds and pick them up on the Bookmobile, so effective December 1, “Bookmobile” will be a pickup location option in PAC, just like all branch locations. Outreach Services will adjust the hold expiration dates as needed to meet the needs of Bookmobile patrons. It will take some time for us to educate our patrons about their service options, so we don’t expect there to be a large number of holds on the shelf at any given time, and will monitor the situation as things get busier.

Please note: While Bookmobile patrons may place holds on materials from any of the branches, all the Bookmobile materials are non-holdable, even though they will be visible in the catalog.

PATRON CODES

Bookmobile patrons will have the same patron code options as all branch patrons (Adult, Juvenile, etc.). The only thing that is different is their home branch and pickup location. As of December 1, “Bookmobile” will be an option as a home library on the patron registration form. Bookmobile patrons are not classified as “Outreach”, as that designation is reserved for Lobby Stop and Mailbox Books patrons.

Thank you all for your patience and flexibility as we make the adjustments. As with any changes, these may cause some initial confusion for some patrons, but we will work through them together. Please pass along any questions or concerns as situations arise.
