1) PC sessions are 30 minutes long, except at Cumming, where they are 1 hour long
2) Patrons will receive a warning message 5 minutes before their session ends
3) If no one is waiting to use the computer, patrons will be able to extend their session in 15 minute increments without speaking to a staff member by clicking on the "Accept" button in the warning message. If this becomes a problem, staff should be able to end a patron's session from the management program installed on staff workstations.
4) These settings are the same for cards and for guest passes.
Please email IT or submit a ticket if you have any questions.
Can you remind me of when the computers time out for inactivity, and if it's the same if they are locked?
ReplyDeleteTimeout on the OPAC computers is currently set to 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteAllow Users to Lock Sessions: Used to determine if patrons are
allowed to invoke the idle screen and hide the contents of the
desktop. Locking a session permits a patron to step away without
concerns over losing the PC to another patron or having it timeout
due to inactivity.
