In January, the Outreach team became a part of the Senior
Resource Coalition led by Forsyth County Senior Services. The group is made up
of local nonprofits that serve seniors in the community. The first order of
business was to create a printed guide of nonprofits that could be easily
accessed by seniors, especially those without computers or internet service.
The end result is a 4-color, professionally printed booklet that will be making
its way to your branch very soon. Printed copies were limited and prioritized
for distribution to groups with direct contacts to folks who could benefit from
the guide. Outreach received 25 copies that we have been sharing our patrons
and activities directors. Each branch will receive one copy of the printed
version to share with patrons as a reference resource. There is also an online
version that some more tech-savvy seniors or caregivers might find useful.
We are currently working on the best placement for a link to the resource on
our webpage and will share that with you once the link is up. The next project
for the coalition is to organize a Senior Resource Fair that focuses on
nonprofits, but it is currently on hold due to COVID-19.
