On Saturday, October 29th, several staff members participated in Mentor Me’s annual bowling event. The library team consisted of Andrea DelValle, Joan Dudzinski, Aubrey Smith, and her husband, Jardan.
Denise Leeson was bowling on the Rotary Club of Forsyth County’s team along with her husband. Each year the library has a bowling team sponsored by Anna Lyle. Some of the past librarian bowlers have been Julie Boyd, Cristie Edmondson, Jennifer Forbes, Gabi Santangelo, Sarah Reynolds, and many others including their family members. It is an event that raises money for Mentor Me through team sponsorships and amazing door prize raffles. It is held at the Stars and Strikes bowling venue in Cumming, Throughout the event, teams and bowlers are spotlighted and often given a chance for random prizes if a bowler gets a spare or strike (no pressure). There is a prize for the best-scoring team, but being good is not a requirement, and we were definitely not in the running for this prize. The fun is interacting with everyone and having a good time together!
If you are not familiar with Mentor Me, they are a local organization with a mission to connect young people to trusted adults and role models. The programs empower today's youth to reach their full potential by providing experiences and resources to support confidence, connections, and personal development. Mentor Me North Georgia delivers its mission through three programs: One-to-One Mentoring, Mentoring After School (MAS), and Mentor Me Connect clubs (MM Connect). They are celebrating their 20th anniversary of serving the community this year.
Thank you, Joan, for organizing the team and supporting Mentor Me!
