Craft Supply Swap Fair at Hampton Park Library (3/29)

“The Craft Supply Swap Fair was bigger and better than ever! From 1:00 to 2:00, patrons were handed a large paper sack and allowed to take whatever could fit in the bag. From 2:00 to 4:00, patrons were encouraged to take everything they could possibly want! Everyone was pleasant and polite. The two donated Cricuts went fast, along with a lot of yarn and some complete craft kits. Ultimately, patrons were very happy with this program and took about 75% of the items that were donated.” - hosted by Jennifer Forbes

Great Robot Wilderness Adventure at Denmark Library (3/31)

“Patrons were so excited to explore the branch and be part of the first program today at Denmark! I welcomed everyone with a short introduction to the program, talking about coding, imprinting, and the centers awaiting them. There was more to explore in the centers than anyone could accomplish in the hour, so patrons chose what they liked most. The paper circuits, camo art, mechanical hand, and Code a Bracelet were full the entire hour. Children and parents thanked me for the thoughtful centers, and everyone had a wonderful time!” - hosted by Jane Elizabeth Sewell

Kids Town: Fun with Money at Cumming Library (3/31)

“We had a huge turnout for Kids Town today! Our goal was a financial literacy program for kids, and we definitely achieved that. Kids got lots of practice with money math, as well as learning about currency, finances, and budgeting. For the first fifteen minutes, everyone did their minigame style job, then we called everyone up for payday, and they all got envelopes with $100 and budget worksheets. After paying bills, kids were free to start shopping. We had a selection of prizes that were program leftovers, donated items, and some fun items purchased for the program. The kids went to the volunTEEN-run cash register to pay for their items to take home.” - hosted by Kaity Bowers

My Reptile Guys at Cumming Library (3/31)

“Ryse from My Reptile Guys presented a wonderful program this afternoon! He brought 3 snakes, 2 tortoises, 1 lizard, and 1 iguana. As he showed each reptile to the group, he shared interesting facts about them. After his presentation, Ryse set out all his critters on a row of tables. Families lined up, and they were allowed to walk by the tables, and gently touch the reptiles. The exception was the giant tortoise, which was allowed to roam around the room while a flock of children swarmed around it.” - hosted by Julie Boyd

The Suitcase Series with That Puppet Guy at Denmark Library (4/1)

“Today at Denmark, families were delighted by a puppet show performed by Mr. Niko. Themed around a traveling circus, various puppets performed daring acrobatic acts, tightrope feats, and heavy lifting championing. The taming of the lion puppet and the cannon firing of a bear puppet had our patrons rolling with laughter. Several of our patrons thanked me for the show as they left the meeting room to continue exploring our beautiful new library.” - hosted by Sarah Grace Moses

“The book tasting event started off with a restaurant-like ambience with myself and Ms. Brit dressed like waitresses. The children got seated as Ms. Britt handed them their menu cards and review sheet and I started with a slide presentation about the program and what to expect and how to ‘taste’ the books. The children then proceeded to all the tasting tables. The funny books table was the most popular, closely followed by the award-winning books table. This program served the purpose of exposing the children to different categories of books. One child walked up to me towards the end and said she loved the program.” - hosted by Anuradha Murari

Forsyth Creates: Sakura Texture Painting at Denmark Library (4/1)

“We had a great turnout for our very first Denmark adult program! I began the program with a short presentation on sakura, the Japanese name for cherry blossoms. I discussed texture painting tools and techniques, and then patrons were able to create their own texture painting using cotton swabs or bubble wrap for their sakura. Patrons had so much fun with this craft and were excited to come back for the next Forsyth Creates program.” - hosted by Olivia Kolosna

We were excited that quite a few boys got on the Bookmobile and spent a long time chatting about what books to take! We also had two new families that learned not just what the Bookmobile was, but how libraries in general worked.” - hosted by Brooke West and Katie LeDuc
