Thanks to Sariah, Loanie is looking fine for the summer! The way the "paint" trails from the paint cans from the ceiling is both clever and colorful, and above the door you can see some familiar faces in classic art work. There is also a "paint palette" on the door, complete with a giant paint brush!
Drop by to see how Loanie is decked out for the summer if you get a chance!
One of the places we take Loanie to every month is the Ridgeview community. The children literally came running across the field with bare feet when they saw us pull up last week!
This month for summer reading we had a balloon artist as a special guest. She was fabulous and was able to make some unbelievably elaborate designs! Even the teenagers loved it. We have a teen who loves our Kermit the Frog puppet, so she made a frog hat for him!
Our balloon artist was open to requests, and 2 of the children wanted Bluey and Bingo from the books and T.V. show. She had never made them before, and we were extra impressed with her ability to make a character that she had never created before!
You could see how happy the children were that we were there! Many of them in this neighborhood do not have transportation, so anything we can do to bring the library to them brings them great joy! They were especially excited about the summer reading program. Several of them came to the bookmobile, looked around, and then ran out and came right back with 2 or 3 more children! The word got out very quickly that we had the balloon lady there.
If you look closely, you will see Spiderman, a bunny rabbit, Princess Belle, a snake, a butterfly, and a few other balloon characters.
We had a total of 25 on the bookmobile for the hour, and it was an hour of happiness!
Cute!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you blessed our Ridgeview families with a summer reading program! It's so wonderful to see how these children have grown up. The smiles warm my heart :)
