The Colors of Our World 4th Annual Community Photo Exhibit @ SF

Submitted by Brooke Rose

Our world is a kaleidoscope of color! What in our colorful world inspires you? This is the question we posed to our local photographers. Throughout May we solicited submissions for the 4th annual community photography exhibit, The Colors of Our World. Our community was VERY inspired this year! We had a HUGE response with a total of 102 submissions from patrons and staff!

As a fun summer engagement, we are pairing the exhibit with a creative writing activity! We are soliciting poems or short stories inspired by one (or more) of the images in the exhibit. All you writers out there should participate. Just select a photo and write what comes to you! Then share it either in the comments or email it to me at RoseB@ForsythPL.org.

The photos are displayed at the Sharon Forks Library through the end of July (it took 27 endcaps!), and most can also be found on the website. Participants are also receiving feedback for each photo from an experienced photographer, Horace Hamilton of the Georgia Nature Photographers Association. This is the 2nd year Horace has generously donated his time and expertise to this event.

Thank you to the Sharon Forks staff for helping me frame the pictures and keeping me calm as the submissions kept rolling in. Thank you to Kim O. for helping me hang all 102 photos after hours. Thank you to Leslie, Sarah B., and Andre for their promotional efforts (they were VERY effective!). And most of all, thank you to Andre for building the webpage again this year!

  1. This is incredible! One of my favorite parts of SF last summer was seeing everyone's gorgeous photos while I was out shelving :)
