Top Reasons We Should Join the FCPL Friends and Advocates

As library staff, we are passionate about books, community, and lifelong learning. But did you know that we, too, can be members of the FCPL Friends and Advocates? With roots stretching back to 1995, this organization offers a multitude of benefits for book lovers and community supporters alike. Here's why you should consider becoming a member:

1. Exclusive Book Sale Access

As a member, you'll enjoy privileged access to special book sale dates throughout the year. Beat the crowds and get first dibs on hidden literary gems!

2. Make a Difference Through Volunteering

Put your passion into action by volunteering to give back to your community and support FCPL! Library staff members can volunteer, though not at the branch where they work.

3. Fund Vital Library Initiatives

Your membership directly contributes to library programs, new materials, and even construction projects like the Denmark Library’s Friends Terrace, for which the Library received a $30,000.00 donation from the Friends and Advocates for the space. You'll play a part in shaping the future of our libraries!

4. Extend Your Impact Beyond Library Walls

The Friends and Advocates support our community-wide initiatives, like providing children’s books for our laundromat program, the Forsyth County Health Department, and the Juvenile Courts Library kiosks. Your membership helps promote literacy where it’s needed most.

5. Save Books, Save the Planet

By supporting book resale efforts, you're giving pre-loved books a second life and keeping them out of landfills. It's a win-win for bibliophiles and eco-minded individuals alike.

6. Help Reduce the Tax Burden

Offering some popular donated books back into circulation is a way the Friends and Advocates help save taxpayer dollars. It's a smart way to support your community while potentially easing the local tax burden.

7. Be Part of a Rich Legacy

When you join the Friends and Advocates, you become part of a storied organization that has been instrumental in developing our local library system since 1995. From helping build the first branch library to ongoing support, you'll be continuing a proud tradition.

Join the FCPL Friends and Advocates today and become a vital part of your library's support system. Whether you're a reading enthusiast, a community advocate, or simply looking for a meaningful way to give back, membership in this organization offers something for everyone.
