Check out these highlights from some of the unique offerings patrons enjoyed systemwide July 3–9, 2025.
Stuffed Animal Sleepover at Post Road Library (7/5)

“Our inaugural Stuffed Animal Sleepover saw 16 patron stuffies spend the night with us at Post Road Library! Patrons dropped off their stuffies and attached a tag with their name, the stuffie's name, and their contact number. Once the stuffie had a tag on them, patrons could stay and color their own custom trading card to design after their stuffie while listening to relaxing Mister Rogers bedtime music to get the stuffies ready for their sleepover. Overnight, the stuffies got up to all sorts of shenanigans at the library! The next day, patrons came to pick up their stuffies, who had pictures of what they got up to during their sleepover. The Art of Mess at Cumming Library (7/3)

“The art of mess was a fun, chaotic program. We started the program out by talking about forces and reviewing the laws of motion. We looked at a few famous paintings from artists from the Abstract Expressionism movement and I asked the kids what they noticed and thought about the paintings. We then reviewed the rules about doing messy art, and then we went outside. Outside, we had 5 different stations: Coil Painting, Bubble Painting, Splatter Painting, Spray Painting, and Pendulum Painting. The children really liked exploring the different painting mediums. Parents and caregivers also liked seeing the different ways their kids made art. Children were able to see how forces helped them make art. They all had a good time and were very excited about the art they made.” - hosted by Signe Madson

Animals Around the World at Sharon Forks Library (7/7)

“The patrons enjoyed learning about all kinds of animals today! The North GA Zoo brought a chinchilla, armadillo, lizard, python, and monkey with them. They talked about the animals as they walked around the room with them. The kids got to pet the snake and the armadillo at the end if they wanted.” - hosted by Stephani Lindsey
Becoming a Global Citizen at Denmark Library (7/6)

“We went all over the world and through time with this month's topic. Dr. Craig Greathouse, Department Head of the PSIA at UNG, presented on strategic and geopolitical competition. There was so much information that Greathouse's presentation took the entire hour and half and everyone stayed for an extra 20 minutes to ask questions. I also noticed we had a mix of regular attendees and some new faces, which was great to see. There was a lot of time spent on discussing nuclear weapons due to the current international political climate. At the end of his presentation, Greathouse jokingly said "Enjoy your nightmares tonight!" referring to a brief discussion about what would happen if states deployed their nuclear weapons. One patron remarked that this presentation in particular was "eye-opening" and has resulted in them looking at international order in a different light. A patron who used to work in defense said he was pleasantly surprised by the presentation and appreciated the intellectual side of the topic compared to the military side he is used to.” - hosted by Jessica Dillard
