Check out these highlights from some of the unique offerings patrons enjoyed systemwide July 17–23, 2025.
I Can’t Draw at Cumming Library (7/17)

“We had a fun time learning drawing skills and drawing creatively at our art program today! We started by reading the book the program was inspired by, I Can't Draw. The kids thought the book was hilarious! The book emphasizes that everyone draws differently, and you can have fun and be creative no matter how realistic (or not) your drawings are. Next, we had a drawing tutorial for anyone who did want to improve their observational drawing skills. Then we had three stations: Collage Art, Observational Drawing, and Freestyle Drawing!” - hosted by Kaity Bowers

Art Heist Escape Room at Sharon Forks Library (7/19)

We had a fantastic time at all three sessions of the Art Heist Escape Room! We had a total of 16 attendees (4 in the first session, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third). There was a mix of experienced escape room players as well as newbies in each group which made for a great experience. Attendees were tasked with finding the Sharon Forks Museum's stolen art before opening day. The Conference Room (the perfect size!) was set up to look like our thief's office. The groups started with a letter written by our thief, Lucien De Fraud, to his accomplice, Artie Ficial. This letter sent the groups down three different pathways where the end result of each pathway was to obtain a single digit number. The numbers were then used to unlock the stolen art with a three-digit number lock. We used various types of puzzles and clues, including word search, a nonogram, a smell box, invisible ink, and many riddles. All three groups successfully found the stolen artwork within 40 to 45 minutes. The first two groups each asked for one hint, while the third didn't ask for any. All attendees had a great time and we received great feedback!

Cirque du Todd at Post Road Library (7/21)

“Cirque Du Todd was a super fun program! Our amazing performer Todd Key showed us a ton of cool tricks, including a lasso trick, juggling various items, balancing things and balancing on things, and was very interactive with the crowd and allowed patrons to help him perform his tricks. He spoke a lot about how he learned his tricks by reading books from the library and how we can help patrons find books they're looking for at the library! He is also a children's book author and spoke about his two children's books, one which is sold out, but the other called "What's in My Pocket?" which we have in our collection. We still had a great crowd full of excited patrons who loved Todd's act.” - hosted by Kara Nitschke

Forsyth Creates Mosaic Flowers at Denmark Library (7/22)

“Patrons got the chance to create floral mosaic tiles, although I told them they could do any design they wanted. This was the first Denmark Forsyth Creates in which we used event passes to ensure we had enough supplies for everyone. I had enough sets for 24 people. We had 2 children sit with their parents and we had 2 adults observe. After all 24 event passes were gone within the first 10 minutes, staff at the front desk turned away 10 extra people. Everyone who attended the program enjoyed the craft and said while it was a messy one, they loved it. Many are excited for August's painted seashells programs.” - hosted by Jessica Dillard
