There's a great new series on the FCPL Bookmarked blog I wanted to bring to your attention.
The "Getting to Know Your Library" series is the brainchild of Sharon Forks Information Specialist Alicia Cavitt. She came up with the idea as a recruiting tool and kicked it off with a post last month about what Information Specialists do.
"This week a patron came up to me at the desk and said she liked the blog about being an IS so local patrons do read it," Alicia shared with me over email.
Today this series continues with Katherine Eitel's account of what it's like to be a CSA. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this one could be an entire short story:
But wait! There's more! If you didn't already know that Katherine is a writer, you will after reading her opening sentence.
Alicia is seeking volunteers to share about other positions at FCPL. Unlike our "Library Limelight" series which helps staff and patrons get to know us a little better as individuals, Alicia's "Getting to Know Your Library" series provides a deeper dive into specific jobs (and possibly in the future, unique features found at each branch).
If you would like to contribute to this series (or to the blog in general), please reach out to the Bookmarked blog editor at your location for more information:
- CU: Melissa Gunter
- HP: Amy Whitten
- HQ and PR: Leslie Marinelli
- SF: Alicia Cavitt
Kudos to Alicia for coming up with such a cool series that helps us market our wonderful libraries, recruit new employees, and showcase our phenomenal staff!
I love this series. Thank you, Alicia and Katherine! I look forward to reading future entries from other staff.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Alicia! And this picture of Katherine is so perfect!
