iVox Update

iVox is an electronic resource produced by the same company that creates the Vox Read - alongs.  iVox titles are accessed using an app that can be downloaded from either the Apple Store or the Google Play Store online.  iVox titles are typically at the picture book level, but are available to all interested patrons.  There is no cost to download the app. Instructions on using the iVox app

iVox titles will 'read' the book to the patron through the app.  There is also some animation that will display through the app as the story is read.  Patrons with devices that have a gyroscope feature will be able to rotate the device and watch as the view/display of the story changes in an almost three dimensional effect. 

When selecting a title in the app, patrons will be asked to 'checkout' the title.  After finishing the title, patrons are able to return the title if they wish.  A checked out title will be returned automatically at the end of two weeks.  Patrons have a five item at one time checkout limit.

iVox came to FCPL during the previous fiscal year, in part due to the demand the last few years for the Vox titles.  Over the previous fiscal year we closely monitored the usage of the available titles.  Based upon this information, some titles have been dropped and some new titles have been added.  Some of the titles available on iVox are available as physical Vox Read - alongs.  As you can see by reviewing the title list below, animal nonfiction titles have proven to be some of the most popular iVox titles.
