Cost of Living Adjustment 2026

As we look toward the new year, I want to express my sincere thanks for your hard work and dedication. We recognize that the economic environment continues to shift, and we are committed to ensuring our compensation remains competitive and reflects your value to the community.

Each year, the FCPL Board of Trustees requests that library staff be included in any Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) provided to Forsyth County employees. I am pleased to share that the Forsyth County government has included a 5% cost of living increase for all library staff in their budget, matching the increase for current county staff. This will take effect with the first paycheck in January 2026.

In addition to this 5% individual increase, we are adjusting our formal hiring pay scales (the "brackets" for new hires) by 3%. This 3% adjustment reflects the current inflation rates and ensures FCPL remains competitive in attracting new talent. By increasing individual staff salaries by 5% while moving the entry brackets by 3%, we are adopting a practice implemented by Forsyth County Government in 2025. This structure is designed to:

  • Prevent Wage Compression: It ensures that new hires do not start at the same rates as our veteran staff members.

  • Align with Funding Agency Practices: While FCPL is an independent agency, we strive to mirror the practices of the county, our primary funding partner.

We remain committed to our longevity pay, competitive benefits, and internal career opportunities. FCPL truly believes in “growing our own,” and I hope that by evolving our longevity policy and COLA structure, we continue to provide a place where you can build a long-term career.

I value each and every one of you. Thank you for your continued dedication and service to our patrons. If you have any questions regarding your compensation, please reach out to Tonya Wallace, Director of Support Services.

All my best,

Adrianne Junius
