Recently FCPL compiled a Special Needs Resource page for the library website. Do you know about all the other types of resources available to help Forsyth County residents and our patrons? Did you know there are multiple food pantries and a myriad of non-profits who serve or deliver meals? Eighteen are listed in the Senior Resource Guide published by the county. There are even holiday/weekend backpacks of food for students in FCS.

The United Way of Forsyth County has compiled a list of non-profits who help with rent assistance, mortgage assistance, utilities assistance, medical care on a sliding scale basis, mental health care, dental care, prescription drug aid, transitional housing, domestic violence prevention, crisis intervention, job training, GED help, tax assistance and more.

The Place offers weekly visits to the food pantry, clothing help, parenting classes, job training,  and GED classes in conjunction with Literacy Forsyth. With volunteers in the county The Place has developed fresh food gardens that offer a bounty to those in need. Last year they went from helping 75 families a week to over 400 during the peak months of COVID.

Recently Forsyth County has become the recipient of grant money to be used for COVID rental and utilities help. The United Way and The Place will be helping people to fill out and upload their applications for assistance.  If you aren’t sure where to send a patron who is looking for resources here in the county, look no further than our very own website.
