Did you know that you don’t have to listen to an eAudiobook at the default speed? To adjust the playback speed on an eAudiobook in Libby, open the eAudiobook and then at the top of your screen click on the Playback Speed icon (it resembles a clock that has a number under it). Drag the Fine-Tune line up to slow the playback speed or down to increase the playback speed. Or select a preset speed on the left side. Press the play button at the bottom of the screen to preview the new speed. When you’ve found the desired playback speed, click the gray Hide button or the up arrow above the play button at the bottom of the screen. Note: When you change the playback speed for one eAudiobook, Libby will change the speed for future books. If this speed doesn’t work well for another book in the future, you can always adjust it.

Many of you already know this but if a patron comes in asking about a book they heard about on TV or the radio, you can find the title using the Media Mentions feature of NoveList Plus. It’s also helpful if you’ve heard about a book that sounded great but the details escape you by the time think to check. To locate the Media Mentions feature of NoveList Plus, click on Advanced Search and scroll down. On the right side of the search page, under Media Mentions select where you or the patron heard about the title. You can also include the publication date if you know it or leave it out if not. Last but not least, the Format Painter is a tool that a lot of people use in Microsoft Office to apply formatting from one area to another. Did you know that you can double-click the Format Painter to copy the formatting to multiple locations? If you’re not familiar with the Format Painter tool, it’s found on the Clipboard section of your Toolbar on the Home tab. Highlight the text that has the formatting you would like to copy and then click on the Format Painter (it looks like a paint brush) or double-click to apply it to multiple locations.
