Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a popular and important service at Forsyth County Public Library. Interlibrary Loan is the process by which FCPL patrons can request to borrow materials owned by other libraries throughout the United States. FCPL has one of the most used ILL services in the state of Georgia. Tanya Rodabaugh is our Interlibrary Loan Specialist. Meredith Causey, Materials Services Supervisor, also assists Tanya with the ILL process.
Please remember that we are unable to request items published within the current and previous calendar year, and until December 31 2021 this includes items published in 2020 and 2021.
Interlibrary Loan items borrowed from other libraries will come to patrons with paper book straps around the front cover. The book strap contains valuable information and helps to identify the book as an ILL from another library. These paper book straps can be very time consuming to create and affix to the book.
The decision was made to replace these paper book straps with vinyl book straps that wrap around the front cover. The vinyl book straps feature the FCPL logo and provide for more durability and a cleaner look. ILL books with the new vinyl book straps will begin to be sent to patrons this week. Please see the two pictures below for a preview of the new bookstraps. The loan specific information for each book will be affixed to the vinyl book strap with a one time use sticker. These stickers will be stamped with 'FRAGILE' or 'NO RENEWALS' as necessary. The paper bookmarks that were included with ILL items will be retired as well since the information they contained is now on the vinyl book strap.
