Staff Book Clubs: Whatcha Reading? and Reading Globally

Start the New Year off right and join us for meetings of our staff book clubs, Whatcha Reading? and Reading Globally!

Whatcha Reading? is a casual book club for FCPL staff with no assigned titles. Come and talk about what you’ve been reading and learn about new titles from your coworkers that are sure to make it on your TBR pile. Whatcha Reading? will meet at the Cumming Library on Thursday, January 6 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided! Please register so we can get an accurate count for lunch.

Reading Globally is our staff book club that focuses on reading diverse titles about different cultures and experiences. To celebrate Black History Month, we’ll be meeting in February to discuss Toni Morrison’s classic novel, Sula. Published in 1973, Sula follows the friendship of two girls growing up in a Black community in Ohio. This riveting novel is a powerful and quick read at less than 200 pages. Reading Globally will meet at the Cumming Library on Monday, February 28 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Lunch will also be provided, so please register to attend.

Whatcha Reading? is perfect for January’s goal to Read a Book on Your TBR pile, and Sula is a great title for February’s goal to Read a Book by a Black Author. Participation in FCPL staff book clubs is completely voluntary. If you do choose to participate, please note that reading the book(s) should be done on your own time, but that attending the book club meeting would be on work time. Be sure to get your supervisor’s approval before registering. We hope to see you there!
