New and Improved AMH at Post Road!

Submitted by Joan Dudzinski

It has been much anticipated by Post Road staff, and it finally arrived in December!

First, the old automated materials handler (AMH) had to be disassembled and removed. This was quite the task for Facilities and IT. Fortunately, it involved getting a dumpster so they managed to clear a few items out of the basement, too.

Installation began on Monday, December 12 with Bibliotecha techs unpacking an endless load of boxes and equipment. After assembly, adjustments, and fine-tuning, the branch was up and running by the weekend.

Our drive-through book drop is currently closed while a custom book drop is being designed due to the height of the driveway and the inside return. Thanks to Cumming for loaning us one of your outdoor book drops! It was truly fun collecting books from it during those wind-chill days in December.

After all the waiting, the Post Road Library now has a new 13-bin AMH. The extra bins allowed us to change up our sorting logic and provided a future bin for Denmark Library. The staff is now in the process of choosing a name for it. With a new AMH and Circulation Supervisor, Post Road has had a good start to 2023.
