As finishing touches are being put into place at Denmark Library, there are also myriad tasks happening behind the scenes at HQ to integrate Denmark into our well-oiled machine of system-wide processes!
Here are just a few ways we're adding Denmark into the mix:
The Phone Menu
Here's what the new menu options will be when we open Denmark:
1 - Library Hours
2 - Telephone Renewals
3 - CU
2 - Telephone Renewals
3 - CU
4 - DE
5 - HP
6 - PR
7 - SF
8 - Outreach
9 - HQ Offices
5 - HP
6 - PR
7 - SF
8 - Outreach
9 - HQ Offices
As you can see, every option after CU in this list will be getting a new number in the menu. Don't worry: the menu prompts will continue to be voiced by our own Ross Gericke!
We have decided to drop the staff directory that is currently reached through option 9 because it's just not great. (I suspect Kramer will be very relieved.)
Once we factor in Denmark, this will be the new courier route. (Please note: these times are estimates.)
CU - Leave around 9:45 a.m.
HP - Arrive around 10:05 a.m.
SF - Arrive around 11:00 a.m.
PR - Arrive around 12:00 p.m.
DE - Arrive around 12:45 p.m.
CU - Arrive around 1:45 p.m.
We will add Denmark to the route after we receive the certificate of occupancy and staff start reporting to the building. Please note that until the building opens to the public, we will only go to Denmark Monday–Friday.
Fun fact: when you put something in interdepartmental mail, it comes to HQ first to be sorted and then gets sent to the appropriate branch. This is why there is a one day delivery delay for items addressed to anywhere other than Headquarters.
The Website
We're planning to launch the official Denmark Library location webpage on December 18. This will be a modified version of our other location pages at first until the branch actually opens and we have published events in the calendar.
We will keep and rename the current Denmark construction progress webpage for the time being for promotional purposes.
We are also making some minor modifications to the Events sections of the Kids, Teens, and Adults pages of the website in order to add in the Denmark events. Instead of the four columns you see now:
We'll have buttons similar to what we now have on the homepage:
Shout out to the IT team for finding all these creative solutions and doing such a great job keeping our website up to date!
Love the video!

ReplyDeleteWe think it's important to have the branches listed in alphabetical order in the phone menu.
