This exciting direct-mail marketing campaign is the result of a GPLS marketing grant Leslie Marinelli and I applied for last December.
FCPL was one of only five libraries to receive this exclusive marketing grant which enabled us to design a 6 x 9 inch postcard and send it to more than 5,000 Forsyth County residences within 2.5 miles of Denmark Library. To help us incentivize this campaign, FCPL Friends and Advocates are generously offering a free book (up to $3.00 in value) for those who bring the card with them when they visit Denmark Library.
In-Library Process for Staff and Volunteers:
- Staff at Ask Us desk: Participants must bring the postcard to the Ask Us desk. Library staff will then issue a free book voucher, similar to the one used for summer reading.
- Expiration: The coupon is valid only at Denmark Library and has an expiration date of May 17. This is clearly stated on the postcard and voucher.
- Bookstore Volunteers: If a patron brings the postcard directly to the bookstore desk, volunteers should redirect them to the Ask Us desk for processing and to ensure they understand the procedure.
- Existing Patrons: Please note that the mailing list included all residents and did not filter out existing cardholders. If a registered patron comes in to claim a free book, that is perfectly acceptable.
Of course, we have a plan to gather data and report on the effectiveness of this campaign. We will share the results when the promotion has ended. We look forward to watching Denmark Library’s patron numbers and visits grow!
