Storytime Takeout Kits, launched in 2018, are highly successful early literacy tools, popular with preschool and homeschool teachers. Each themed canvas bag (e.g., Letters) includes five books, a puppet, manipulatives, and an Activity Guide compiled by Youth Services Supervisors.

Every insert in each kit is on drive. Need a new activity guide? Check the theme folder! You can easily print and laminate a guide in the branch to keep these popular kits in circulation! You can even print guides for the manipulatives! We made sure everything was uploaded and is kept up to date for your convenience!

Copies of popular kits are being made for the Denmark Library (Colors, Dinosaur, Letters, Numbers, and Shapes) and the Bookmobile (Bug and Dinosaur) for Summer Reading.

Three new themes—Backyard Birds, Food, and Rainforest—will debut for the start of school 2026. We will also debut two Spanish language Storytime Takeout Kits for the Bookmobile: Food and Animals.

The Post Road Library's Community Helpers kit has the highest lifetime circulation, with 188 checkouts.
