The Bookmobile is a Secret Garden of Books!

With over 3,000 books in an ever-changing collection, bookshelves along each side, shelves with games and toys, a craft table, and two checkout desks, space on the Bookmobile is in short supply. Still, the Outreach team finds a way to decorate each month and create an inviting atmosphere for our patrons. For the months of March and April, Sariah and I teamed up to transform the Bookmobile into another world—an upside-down garden hanging from the ceiling!

To prepare, Sariah made dozens of large crepe paper flowers and I made a door with a key to add mystique to the garden.

We included puppet insects and a frog among the flowers, filled in empty spots with greenery, and added butterflies.

The upside-down garden has really brightened up the Bookmobile and it is wonderful to see the smiles on people’s faces when they visit us.

What's next for Loanie? Keep an eye out for a few dinosaurs visiting our garden this summer. In the meantime, see if you can spot the slice of pizza from our scavenger hunt in this last picture. You never know what you’ll find on the Bookmobile!
