Anna, Ann, and I recently met with The Place of Forsyth to discuss potential partnership opportunities. You may remember that Cristie Ferencie, executive director from The Place, spoke during Staff Day in 2022. The Place is a lifeline for so many in Forsyth and Dawson County. To learn more about The Place and its services, visit their website here.
As a result of our meeting, the library will loan 25 Chromebooks to be used in their GED study hall. A portion of the Chromebooks will also be used during Food Pantry Days (Tuesday - Thursday) in the food ordering stations. In addition, the Outreach team will host a table promoting library services and materials monthly. The food pantry serves about 90 families each day.
We look forward to joining other county partners, such as the Forsyth County Health department serving families during The Place’s food pantry. The Place is also a huge supporter of the library and has offered to promote various library programs such as Summer Reading and Conversational English. If the branches have programs they would like to promote through The Place, please do not hesitate to contact me.
We look forward to our partnership with The Place and the relationships that will form as a result of our coming together.
