The Book of Fun

This summer, Kaity designed a fun extra for our patrons to take home: 

This is a little activity book that will encourage kids and families to engage with the library and our summer programming and reading challenge. 

Branches, may choose how to use these, how many to set out, how many to print, etc. Completing the Book of Fun does not earn a Beanstack badge, it is just a fun bonus for kids to enjoy!

Here at CU we plan to give them out as kids sign up at the SRP kick-off event, and as people sign up for the reading program throughout the summer.

What does staff need to do? Nothing! Except maybe print a few and watch the fun. All the activities are self guided and simple, and have no staff involvement. 

It is designed to get kids excited about reading, encourages them to set goals, record favorite books, and visit the library. The Book of Fun explains Beanstack and the new button/badge system, including highlighting the activity buttons. We hope kids will work to earn them all. There is a summer calendar for patrons to highlight their favorite upcoming SRP activities and programs. 

The Book of Fun offers fun activities! An art page, and a fill-in-the-blank story (Perfect activity to do ALL TOGETHER NOW with a parent, sibling,  or friend.)

On the back it features library contact info, highlights of other fun services, the program guide, and the event page link.
