Summer Reading Fun Thank You!

by Anna Lyle and Ann Decherd

Summer Reading Fun is off to a great start! As of this morning, 2,677 patrons have signed up for summer reading, a 44% increase from this time last year. Patrons are excited and responding to all your efforts to make summer reading enticing. Everyone has been working “All Together” in this effort, and you deserve our heartfelt thanks. This truly has been a system-wide effort, and we want to ensure everyone gets the recognition they deserve.

Thank you to Materials for selecting, ordering, and processing materials to ensure our patrons have enough to read to earn their points.

Thank you to Facilities for assisting the branches with their summer reading decor. You have also been amazing in delivering all the summer reading supplies, prizes, and boxes and boxes of summer reading prize books.

Thank you to IT for creating our first-ever website SRF program guide flipbook and for ensuring our patron computer menus have a link to register for summer reading.

Thank you to HR for the countless hours working on the VolunTEEN selection process, from applications to interviews.

Thank you to Finance for ordering every button, banner, and all the other essential items for summer reading.

Thank you to Communications Manager Leslie Marinelli for designing and creating all the promotional materials for summer reading and ensuring that the program gets the attention it deserves in our community.

Thank you to Programming Manager Kim Ottesen for the big idea that transformed our prize structure this year and for ensuring a fabulous summer reading performer line-up.

Thank you to Lindsey Allison, HQ Administrative Specialist, for assisting behind the scenes with countless tasks, especially for expertly wrapping every summer reading prize.

And a HUGE thank you to our staff in the branches and Outreach. You are the face of the library, and we appreciate your hard work visiting every FCS school, developing summer programs, generating a buzz with decor, ensuring the branches are ready and festive, and hyping the program to every patron who walks in the door or visits the bookmobile. It is a monumental effort that started months ago!

Thanks again! It’s going to be an incredible summer!
