Cumming Library Programming Intern

The Cumming Library has been very fortunate to have an intern this past school year, Katie-Grace Lowrey. Katie-Grace is a senior at Alliance Academy for Innovation. She loves all things electrical, so we decided that her long term project this year would be a STEAM program for elementary age kids. The program was titled Circuit Fun for Kids, and Katie-Grace entirely planned, prepared, and presented this program. The result was a great success.  

Below are some pictures from the program. Complete information can be found in her Program Proposal Form in the CMT, which she prepared. Future engineers definitely enjoyed the program! One enterprising 2nd grader asked if she could come because she knew all about circuits. Katie-Grace observed this young patron helping the other kids at her table  with their circuit projects. 

In addition to working on her program during this past year, Katie-Grace has helped us with a variety of tasks. She cataloged our flannel board activities, assisted with programs, created multiple displays, and prepped endless amounts of craft items for staff. She recently created a Sarlacc Pit for Kaity’s Star Wars program and a beautiful bulletin board in the EASY area.  

As she nears the end of the school year, we will be sad to see her go. But we wish her the best in her new endeavors. Specifically, she will be a student at the University of Georgia studying electrical engineering.
