Celebrating Post Road Library's 10th Anniversary

Post Road will be celebrating its 10th year in the community this coming Saturday, August 12. The actual anniversary date is August 24.

It has been an amazing ten years since the Post Road Library opened its doors on August 24, 2013. As you all know, Post Road Library has been well-used, and the numbers prove it! Nearly 700,000 items were checked out in fiscal year 2023 along with over 33,000 patrons attending programs this past year. We may not catch up to Sharon Forks but we are a strong and growing number two. The numbers astonish even us!

We will have a number of interactive activities for all ages. Patrons can stroll through displays of photos from when the building was empty and many of our past programs. Infographic displays will illustrate Then and Now comparisons of top circulating titles from 2013 and 2023, and many other interesting tidbits, along with circulation stats.

Patrons can participate in creating their own library name badges and posting notes about what they love about their library. Aspiring little librarians can pose behind our miniature Ask Us desk complete with a cash register, keyboard, and scanner. They can even sort a cart of books! Great photo op for families! On leaving the meeting room, patrons will be encouraged to visit the Poetry Garden with our new benches. A garden scavenger hunt will be available for the little ones.

The Friends of the Library at Post Road, who just had a record sales month in July, will be conducting a Sidewalk Sale from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

I personally want to thank the local community and the many staff members involved with the branch over all these years. It was great to hear references to Post Road's success and growth at the groundbreaking event last week. Thank you!
