Enrichment Programs at Hampton Park

Every summer we put together special enrichment programs for children that are switched out every few weeks. Our first for this year was to have the kids help us build a kindness garden! Young patrons were tasked with writing one thing they can do to show kindness on a die cut flower and tape it to the paper grass on display in the Easy section. Needless to say, our garden grew quickly! 

Over two hundred flowers dotted our garden, each with its own way to show kindness. Favorites include "giving a hand," "share dinosaurs," and "smile at them." 

Our next enrichment program asked patrons to write their favorite song on a music note and put it on our music staff display in order to make a community playlist. We had over one hundred notes with kid favorites like "Baby Shark" and "Wheels on the Bus," with a few others like "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus and "Not Throwing Away My Shot" from Hamilton. 

For our last enrichment program of the summer, we gave patrons the chance to tell us what they loved about the library! After writing their messages on a die cut heart, they placed it above a large picture of an open book. Many responses included how much they loved checking out books, attending programs, and just being here at the library.
