Programming Picks: Week of September 18, 2023

Stories of Exile Book Discussion

When: Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: The Yiddish Book Center’s “Stories of Exile” is a discussion series to engage us in thinking about experiences of displacement, migration, and diaspora, using Yiddish and other literature as a portal. This program is for adults and high school-aged teens. Registration is required to receive

the selected readings.

Handcrafted @ Hampton Park

When: Wednesday, September 20 at 1:00p.m.–3:00 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: Bring a friend and enjoy two relaxing hours of creativity in this adults-only crafting program. Advance registration is not required, but space and supplies are limited. This month's craft will be a free-for-all with a DIY fall-themed craft using any of our supplies!


Storm Water Management and Mulch in the Landscape

When: Wednesday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: This week's Georgia Green Landscape Stewards Certification Series program will focus on storm water management and mulch in the landscape. Patrons will learn sustainable land management practices to help protect natural resources. Program participants can measure their own activities with the program metric scorecard and earn certification status for their landscape.


Hispanic Heritage Game Night

When: Thursday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: Enjoy Hispanic culture with games of lotería and dominoes! Lotería, meaning "lottery" in Spanish, is a game of chance similar to bingo, but with a picture-based card. Lotería is popular in Mexico and has a rich artistic tradition. Dominoes, a game played with numbered tiles, is a game of matching that has lots of variations for endless gameplay. Dominoes is particularly popular in Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.


Up & Cumming Writers

When: Thursday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Up & Cumming Writers offers a supportive, creative forum where you can work to improve your writing and assist others through the process of critiquing. This adult writers group meets on the third Thursday of every month at the Cumming Library.
