Here are some fantastic upcoming programs (including three special programs in our Celebrating Black Heritage series) to highlight for the week of February 12, 2024.



Adult Special Needs Craft & Story Hour

When: Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: Adults with special needs (developmental disabilities) are invited to listen to stories and create simple crafts designed to accommodate a range of abilities. Caregivers welcome!


Teen Career Exploration - Find Your Future

When: Tuesday, February 13 at 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: Calling all teens! Learn from a panel of professionals

what they do, and how they got there. Program panelists: Ann Riner–Education Coordinator at Northside Forsyth Hospital, Patrick Girvan–City of Cumming Police Chief, Mark Thompson–Absolute Pool & Spa Care, Inc., and Annette Montelongo–Telecommunications Engineer at Verizon Wireless.


Jackie Robinson: A Bright Star Touring Theatre Production - Celebrating Black Heritage

When: Friday, February 16 at 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: Learn about Jackie Robinson, the man who broke the color barrier in professional baseball, during this live children's theater production.


Craft With Me: Vellum Luminary Cube - A Craft Program for Families and Friends

When: Friday, February 16 at 1:00–3:00 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: Kids, teens, and grownups...come craft together in this event specifically designed for crafters of all ages (elementary school and up) and skill levels.


Atlanta Celebrates 50 Years of Hip Hop - Celebrating Black Heritage

When: Saturday, February 17 at 12:30–4:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: Music lovers rejoice! Celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop and hear some samples too! Learn about Hip Hop's history and influence, particularly in Atlanta.


National Black Radio Hall of Fame–Celebrating Black Heritage

When: Sunday, February 18 at 3:00–4:30 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Learn about the history of Black radio and the first Black-owned radio station in Atlanta.
