Here are some great upcoming programs to highlight for the week of February 5, 2024.

Teen Career Exploration

When: Tuesday, February 6 at 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: Listen to professionals share about their jobs and how they got there. Tom Cisco: Director of Forsyth County EMA/911, Randy Boles: Field Resource Manager at Dixie Electric Company, Tara Obermeyer: Owner of Ice Cream Social, and Rachel Whitten: Transportation Engineer II at CHA Consulting. For grades 6 & up.

Great Decisions 2024 - NATO’s Future

When: Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00–8:30 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: FCPL and the University of North Georgia (UNG) will present information and lead discussions on NATO's Future presented by Dr. Craig Greathouse.

Post Road Writers' Group

When: Thursday, February 8 at 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: Are you a writer looking to refine your work for publication? The Post Road Writers' Group meets once a month to offer support and feedback on all types of writing. Registration recommended.

The Stories We Share–Stories of Exile Reading Groups for Public Libraries

When: Saturday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Attendees will listen to short snippets of oral histories—collected by GSU—related to the Stories of Exile theme, then have the opportunity to partner up to share their own story. The floor would then open up to anyone willing to share their story of coming to America or what home means to them.

Lunar New Year Celebration–In Partnership with OneForsyth

When: Saturday, February 10 at 12:30–4:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: All ages welcome to join in celebrating the Lunar New Year at the Sharon Forks Library with performances, crafts, exhibits, and food samples. Performances will be held in the meeting room from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Film Screening of "The Smell of Money"

When: Sunday, February 11 at 2:00–3:45 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: Come view the documentary "The Smell of Money" to learn about one woman's fight to save her home and community against the effects of industrial hog farming. Content warning: Not suitable for minors.
