FamilySearch at the Cumming Library

The Cumming Library is now an affiliate library for FamilySearch. 

• The Library has received multiple requests for the last few years to become a FamilySearch affiliate. 
• FamilySearch is a database that is a resource of the world's largest genealogy organization. 
• The FamilySearch database provides access to over six billion viewable images of genealogical records, and a collection of over thirteen billion searchable names.
• Access to FamilySearch will be available on the patron computers at the Cumming Library. 
• The decision was made to pilot the affiliate library program at the Cumming Library with potential expansion to other locations as warranted by demand.   
• A certificate indicating FamilySearch affiliation will be displayed at the Cumming Library. 

Does our FamilySearch affiliation status provide the Library and patrons with material that they are unable to access using FamilySearch at their home?

• Yes, the Cumming Library's status as a FamilySearch affiliate allows patrons to access content on the patron computers that would be blocked if they were using FamilySearch at home.
• Much of the content that is available to patrons only at the Cumming Library are collections of images, primarily genealogy records, that cannot be accessed outside the Library. 
• Patrons may encounter the symbols in the image below when using FamilySearch. The 'Access Restricted' icon means that the image is only available by using FamilySearch at an affiliate library, such as the Cumming Library.
