A huge congratulations are due to our incredible library staff for making it through Summer Reading Fun 2025! To celebrate all of your wins, let’s look at everything you did from May 1 to August 4 this year.
Beanstack Challenge Signups
We had a total of 8,918 registered participants this year! In 2024, there were 8,040 participants, so that’s an 11% increase. Here are some more detailed breakdowns of those numbers:

- Elementary: 4,479 (50% of all readers)
- Adult: 1,798 (20% of all readers)
- Middle School: 1,100 (12% of all readers)
- Preschool: 1,033 (12% of all readers)
- High School: 436 (5% of all readers)
- FCPL Staff: 72 (1% of all readers)
- By Branch:
- BK: 70 (1% of all readers)
- CU: 1,848 (21% of all readers)
- DE: 1,002 (11% of all readers)
- HP: 1,262 (14% of all readers)
- PR: 2,349 (26% of all readers)
- SF: 2,387 (27% of all readers)
Our participants read a total of 9,189,765 minutes this summer! That’s a 23.5% increase from the 7,441,688 minutes read in 2024.
Along with that increase in minutes comes an increase in prizes! Our participants earned a total of 31,869 prizes. Out of all the prizes earned, they have redeemed 23,738, so a 75% redemption rate. Prizes can still be redeemed for a few weeks after the challenges end, so this rate will increase by the end of August. Every single prize redemption takes staff time, so thank you for your patience and hard work to fulfill all of these prize requests!
In 2024, our participants earned 26,544 prizes and redeemed 20,329 of them (77% redemption rate). That means 2025 has seen a 20% increase in the number of prizes earned and, so far, a 17% increase in the number of prize redemptions.
Summer Programming
We had a huge increase in program numbers from 2024 to 2025! Naturally, a large portion of this can be attributed to gaining a branch (congratulations, Denmark, on your first summer!). In 2025, we hosted 580 in-person programs and had 30,870 attendees. By comparison, we had 391 in-person programs in 2024 with 23,687 attendees. That’s a 48% increase in the number of programs, and a 30% increase in attendees.
Grand Prizes
Front line staff answer questions about the grand prizes all summer long, so let’s see which prizes were the most popular to enter tickets into:
- Adults: Botanical Basket
- 39% of the adult tickets were entered into this basket out of the 5 options
- Elementary: Squishmallow Basket
- 29% of the elementary tickets were entered into this basket out of the 6 options
- Fun fact: the LEGO Basket had the fewest entries this year, with only 10% of the total ticket entries
- Preschool: Magic Light Brush
- 50% of the preschool tickets were entered into this basket out of the 3 options
- Middle School: Book Lover Basket
- 61% of the middle school tickets were entered into this basket out of the 2 options
- High School: Artist Basket
- 69% of the high school tickets were entered into this basket out of the 2 options
- FCPL Staff: Botanical LEGO
- 30% of the staff tickets were entered into this basket out of the 5 options
