Animal Adaptations at Post Road Library (7/31)

“Kathy Church from Smithgall Woods State Park gave us a fabulous show featuring a variety of animal furs and how their colors allow them to adapt to their unique environments. The furs she brought with her included white tailed deer, black bear, bobcat, skunk, possum, gray and red fox, otter, beaver, and racoon. At the end of the program, patrons had the opportunity to touch all of the animal furs. We got a few comments from patrons about how wonderful the summer programs were this year!” - hosted by Kara Nitschke

Summer Reading Fun Finale at Cumming Library (7/31)

“Summer reading closed with fanfare with today's finale event! We honored Super Readers (1000+ points) with a special button and certificate, and displayed names and point totals on the projector. Kids and parents were so excited to see their names dancing on the screen! We also had the following stations: Beanbag Toss, Origami, Survival Island, Balloon Race Cars, Wheel of Awesome, Roll-and-Draw, and Color Our Quilt.” - hosted by Kaity Bowers

Family Fuse Bead Fun at Post Road Library (8/1)

“Adults and children created fuse bead crafts at today’s program. Many participants made bag tags while others made bookmarks. An adult said, ‘Thank you for doing this! It was super fun and very nostalgic.’ It was sweet to see everyone helping each other out. Everyone chatted while they worked on their crafts, and a great time was had by all!” - hosted by Erica Emling

Becoming a Global Citizen at Denmark Library (8/3)

“This month's Becoming a Global Citizen was on Global Trends in 2045 presented by Dr. Seyed Hamid Serri. Everyone in attendance agreed that it was interesting and thought-provoking. He covered the six global drivers of change: global power competition, demographic pressures, climate change, technological advances, economic transformation, and inequality. Dr. Hamid went over five scenarios that may play out in the next few decades. I had patrons come up afterwards praising the topic, the presenter, and the whole series. One patron said the library should try to encourage more young adults to attend, as these topics impact the world they're inheriting. Another patron said it was her first program in the series and she was ‘blown away’ and impressed with the presenter and the information.” - hosted by Jessica Dillard

Forsyth Creates: Painted Seashells at Denmark Library (8/5)

“Patrons had a blast painting seashells for Forsyth Creates! I began the class with instruction on seashell painting techniques, then patrons were able to choose a shell to paint. Some chose to paint the outside of their shell, some the inside, and others were able to paint both! We had some very creative paintings, including self-portraits, a peacock, palm trees, the ocean, a singing octopus, jellyfish, and more. The patrons enjoyed seeing each other's work and were highly complimentary of the craft.” - hosted by Olivia Kolosna
