Check out these highlights from some of the unique offerings patrons enjoyed systemwide July 24–30, 2025.
Amazing Architecture at Cumming Library (7/24)

“We had a fun time at this drop-in craft today! We had the following stations: Drawing a Building, Draw to Scale, Create a Paper Bag Building, Clay Building Ornaments, Marshmallow Skyscrapers, and Lego Bridges. Kids seemed to gravitate towards the clay, skyscrapers, and paper bag building. Several kids were so excited to show off their crafts to their friends and parents. I did hear one little girl tell her mom as they left she wanted to draw all their furniture at home to scale. A great afternoon program practicing STEAM skills.” - hosted by Dana Anderson

Grown-Up Game Night: Trivia at Denmark Library (7/29)

“Our first trivia night at Denmark was a complete success! We had 15 adults attend, broken into 7 teams (one team had three people). All of the questions were art related to tie in with our Summer Reading theme. The categories were: Artists and Movements, Art in Books and Movies, Art Museums, Art Heists, Art Forgeries, Classical Music, Sculptures, and Color Science. Everyone had a lot of fun, with someone commenting that they were worried it was going to be too easy and they appreciated the challenge. They expressed interest in coming to the next trivia night in October, and quite a few mentioned coming by for Book Bingo next month. Everyone enjoyed themselves, browsed the titles on the display table, took bookmarks for upcoming programs, and expressed interest in returning for similar events.” - hosted by Elise Rodriguez
Imagination Station at Hampton Park Library (7/25)

“We had a wonderful afternoon in our final Imagination Station! Today's theme was a LEGO challenge extravaganza, and our young patrons had a wonderful time participating in various STEM challenges using the LEGOs. The challenges included building the tallest tower, hurricane-ready structure, a sturdy bridge, and something creative for us to display in the library. Today's challenges were so much fun and got so many families interested in attending our regular LEGO club program during the school year.” - hosted by Chase Truran
Family Flicks: Dog Man at Post Road Library (7/28)

“This month's Family Flick was Dog Man! The kids all had a great time watching the film, and as always asked if we had any Dog Man books available. For the craft stations, I had materials available for them to make Munchie, the paper bag lunch bag from Dog Man. For the older kids, I had signs for a tutorial on how to draw Dog Man and provided paper and drawing supplies for them to create their own Dog Man pages.” - hosted by Jaime Adams
Glow Paint Party at Sharon Forks Library (7/24)

“The teens had a fantastic time painting works of art under blacklights with glow in the dark paint. They painted everything from flowers, to space scenes, to cows, and a dragon. We also had glow sticks for them to deck themselves out in bracelets and necklaces and glow in the dark body paint to decorate their arms and faces. They all got really into it and had fun socializing and being creative. One of last year's VolunTEENs came to attend before she heads to college, and it was wonderful to see her being a teen for a bit longer!” - hosted by Stephani Lindsey
