Message of gratitude from the FCPL Board of Trustees

Submitted by Mary Helen McGruder, Chair, Library Board of Trustees

As our Library Board was completing our annual evaluation of our director, and then discussing our thoughts during executive session, we were all in awe of the work that has been done this year by our leadership team and staff.  We wanted to let you know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed and that we are all well aware of what you have accomplished by keeping FCPL up and running during these uncertain times.  We know that it has not been easy, nor comfortable for some of you, but we also know that you are each focused on providing outstanding customer service under any circumstances.

We realized that with the exception of our Forsyth Reads Together, it appears that all of our services and outreach have taken place in some form or another.  From curbside pickup to parking lot parties, you have consistently delivered the high quality of service and programs that have become the hallmark of FCPL.  We have been amazed as we have received updates throughout this year of your imaginative means of keeping in touch with our patrons from our youngest lap babies to our oldest readers.  Your enthusiasm has been contagious and you have brought many bright spots of hope and normalcy to a bleak and daunting year.  While this has been one of our oddest years, in some ways, we also think it might be one of our best because it truly highlighted what an amazing group of people show up every day at FCPL.

As those who deal daily with words, you know that sometimes words become inadequate, and this is one of them.  Unfortunately, sometimes words are all we have, so please accept these words of thanks and gratitude for all you did in 2020 and our best wishes for 2021.
