Happy National Library Workers Day!  If there was ever a year to celebrate library employees, this is it!  Library staff have played a critical role in Forsyth County during the pandemic, contributing greatly to our patrons’ quality of life.  Your work is greatly appreciated by the community and by us.  Thank you from Anna and the Leadership Team.

Following is a message from our Board Chair, Mary Helen McGruder:

As I look back at this time last year on the calendar, I was learning how to have meetings on Zoom, hoping to get one last hair appointment and planning grocery purchases more than one day at a time.  No one really knew what was ahead of us or really what “it” was.  But, through it all, FCPL management and staff led the way on customer service for our community.  From offering curbside pickup to online programming, our patrons were able to continue to enjoy reading, connecting, learning and playing – just in a different format. 

Now we are looking forward to being able to offer in person programming, provide study rooms for our patrons, and many of the other services that have been on hold this last year.  You have all done an amazing job of figuring out how to live our mission of championing lifelong learning and personalized, though socially distant, customer service.  And, during a time when our community was desperate for some semblance of normalcy, you all came together to fulfill our vision of being a vital participant to improve the quality of life for our citizens. 

We, the Board of Trustees, have been in awe of your hard work and dedication to our community and we are so grateful that as we come out of this time of uncertainty and fear, our library has led the way by demonstrating that with careful planning and execution, it is possible to be safe, be open and be innovative.   Thank you.
