Forsyth Reads Together: New Date!

Have you read Gods and Generals by Jeff Shaara yet? Whether it's still on your TBR pile or you've been counting down the days to Mr. Shaara's visit, mark your calendars for March 7, 2022, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for Forsyth Reads Together: An Evening with Jeff Shaara.

This event was originally scheduled for fall of 2020, rescheduled for spring of 2021, rescheduled again for March 24, 2022, and Mr. Shaara will finally be here on March 7, 2022.

Forsyth Reads Together engages readers across the community in discussions, educational events, and author talks focused on a single book selection. Sharing a book with our neighbors makes it part of the public discourse and we can begin to understand one another better, as well as reflect on the ways that modern literature both represents and influences our society.

You can register here for An Evening with Jeff Shaara. We hope to see you all there for an enlightening evening of literature with your neighbors!

  1. Cleo, will previous registrations be automatically switched to the new date or do we need to register again?

  3. Yes, all patrons who were registered have been moved to the new date and Communico notified them of the change in date should they wish to change their registration.

  4. I read the book about a year and a half ago and enjoyed it. It gave me a much better understanding of the Civil War than I had before reading it.

I hope a number of our staff consider reading the book and joining us for Mr. Shaara's talk, and I'm hopeful for a large participation next year from the community. Many of the attendees for our previous author visits have been women, and we deliberately chose a book this time that might be appealing to men as well (but would also be enjoyed by women, as our previous historical fiction titles have been).
