For the first time ever, this Fall Break FCPL will be hosting a reading incentive challenge for kids and teens ages 0-18. The program will encourage kids to read what they want (as opposed to what they might have to read for school) and to read for fun over Fall Break. The program will launch on Friday, September 17 and run through Wednesday, September 29.
Kids' Choice: Fall Break Reading Fun will be simple and easy. Here’s how it will work:
- Kids will log books and complete activities using Beanstack
- Kids earn 20 points for every 15 minutes or 1 book they read
- Kids earn 10 points for completing one of the following activities (can be completed multiple times):
- Visiting the library
- Sharing a book with someone special
- Read a book YOU (the kid) wants
- Illustrate a book cover
Beginning at 100 points and up to 500
points, kids can earn a ticket into the grand prize drawings for every 100 points
they earn. We have 5 different grand prizes. There will be one winner per
branch for each prize.
- Pete the Cat Groovy Buttons Game
- Elephant & Piggie mini-basket (contains book bag and Elephant & Piggie Biggie Vol. 4)
- Dog Man mini-basket (contains puzzle and Cubles craft kit)
- Raina Telgemeier mini-basket (contains puzzle and mini posters)
- Barnes & Noble $25 gift card
There is a staff version of the
program now live in Beanstack. Please take the time to register, play around,
and familiarize yourself with the challenge. The staff version will remain live
through Thursday, September 16.
If you have any questions about Kids' Choice: Fall Break Reading Fun, please talk with Cleo or the YSS at your
branch.
Happy reading!
