Here are a few great Programming Picks to let our patrons know about for the week of October 16, 2023:

American Red Cross Blood Drive

When: Monday, October 16 at 3:00–7:00 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: To make an appointment, please visit www.RedCrossBlood.org OR call 1-800-Red-Cross. Please eat iron-rich foods, drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids, and get a good night's rest before donating blood. PHOTO I.D. REQUIRED.


10 Things Mom and Dad Should Do Prior to Death or Disability: Presented by Wilson Legal

When: Thursday, October 19 at 7:00–8:00 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: Learn what your parents should do now to make things go smoothly after they die or become disabled. Michelle Wilson of Wilson Legal will walk you through what you need to know.


Snakes Alive!:

When: Friday, October 20 at 2:00–2:30 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Smithgall Woods Education Center will bring models and live snake specimens. Participants will gain a new respect for these misunderstood creatures by learning about anatomy, morphology, and the lifestyle of snakes in Georgia. All ages are welcome.


World Food Day

When: Saturday, October 21 at 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: In celebration of World Food Day, UNG food justice students will present about important foods from different cultures, the role water plays in producing these foods, and how food justice affects our food system.


Claudia Rankine's "Citizen" - Race and American Culture

When: Sunday, October 22 at 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: Explore and discuss what racial injustice feels like in contemporary America through excerpts of Claudia Rankine's poetry and lyrical reflections from her book Citizen.
