2023 MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival

What: Showcase of 10 short films from international artists spanning venues in over 500 locations worldwide. Come watch the films and vote for your favorite!

EXHIBIT: Righting a Wrong: Japanese Americans and World War II

When: Now–October 31

Where: Hampton Park Library

What: This poster exhibit from the Smithsonian Institute explores the incarceration of Japanese-Americans during WWII as a result of

Executive Order 9066, a document that President Roosevelt signed in 1942, two months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. 

Welcoming Wildlife and Protecting Water Quality: Georgia Green Landscape Stewards Certification Series

When: Wednesday, October 4 at 7:00–8:30 p.m.

Where: Post Road Library

What: Learn how to earn the Georgia Green Landscapes Stewards certification during this 5-week series from the UGA Master Gardeners. This program is for adults.

Super Science! STEM in Action

When: Saturday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Where: Sharon Forks Library

What: Join Arya Akbarshahi from Project Ambitious Futures in this exciting science event.  Learn scientific concepts, see cool experiments, and learn about STEM careers. For grades 2–5 with an accompanying adult. No registration required but space is limited.

The Cuisine of Mexico: Celebramos! Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

When: Sunday, October 8 at 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Where: Cumming Library

What: Discover the cuisine of Mexico! Ozzie Rodriguez, owner of Palapas Bar & Grill restaurants, will talk about the food and culture of Mexico and will demonstrate how to prepare authentic Mexican tamales. Samples of the dish will be available to try. For adults.
