ATLAS is all new and also old!

Submitted by Steph Gardner

The SF ATLAS crew installed the final month of Atlas this month, bringing back many pieces from our travels this year to fill the Sharon Forks Museum of Art and History! Patrons will discover artifacts from all the time periods we traveled to as they explore the children's room. There are at least two artifacts from each time period with signage to help patrons discover the time period from which each artifact hails. Patrons are encouraged to complete the scavenger hunt by locating the artifacts from each time period!

Visitors will enjoy an impressionist art activity, viewing examples of famous works of art and then creating their own original.

The History of Communication exhibit encourages patrons to explore Morse code and send a telegraph! The telegraph key is attached to a small lightbulb that will turn on when the key is tapped.

Visitors can also learn about obscure facts about these ancient communication tools:

This has been a fabulous opportunity to wrap up a successful year of investigative time travel. The oohs and aahs of admiration and exclamations of "I remember that!" reinforce the importance and impact of this program.

Who knows what next year will bring...
