On the Road with Outreach: March Community Events

One of the core tenants of the Outreach department, and the Forsyth County Public Library system as a whole, is community partnership. The Outreach team always gets excited about community event invitations and March had the Bookmobile crew feeling very popular!

We attended five large scale events and had over 1300 visitors come on the bookmobile in March alone.

These community engagement events are incredible opportunities for our team to meet patrons that may not otherwise experience the bookmobile. Naturally, they have lots of questions for us because they are first time visitors! The patrons really enjoy learning about our route and the other programs we provide such as Mailbox Books and the Lobby Stops. Plus, we have recently learned, the bookmobile is a great place to take cool selfies! 

We attended three Forsyth County school cluster events: South Forsyth, Forsyth Central, and North Forsyth High. A cluster event is when all the schools that feed into a particular high school join forces to offer school club performances and other fun activities, such as food trucks and inflatables for the kids.  At Forsyth Central’s event “Heart of Forsyth,” we had a community member that was extremely happy to sign up for a library card! The largest event was at North Forsyth High where we had over 170 people visit and check out items from the Bookmobile.

At the Forsyth County Sheriff Department’s Eggstravaganza event, patrons consistently shared with us how excited they are about the new Denmark Library! We also had many parents that were thrilled to explore our Spanish language collection. Visitors to the bookmobile during this event totaled over 300. Lorraine and I were so thankful that we thought to take extra bins of books for this very busy event.
